Merlin’s original Hixon leather jacket was first released in 2016 and was a staple of the Merlin collection for many years. The team at Merlin have given the Hixon a refresh, but we are happy to report they haven’t ventured too far from the original. The Hixon II is still made from the same delightfully supple cowhide leather, for instance. Merlin have upgraded the armour, now using D3O Level 1 armour in the shoulders and elbows. The fit was slightly tweaked too, with a slightly longer length, new design details and crucially: more
ventilation – with three back vents and two chest ventilation points added.
It makes the Hixon a well thought out motorcycle jacket, with its classic style cues hiding modern safety features. Highly recommended.
